Ruckus

9 September 2006, 1210Z

Ruckus is an MP3 player for the PlayStation Portable that is designed to be used by DJs. It provides most of the functionality of a professional CD player, including cueing with 1/60 second precision, tempo adjustment ±12%, and pitch bend.

all I need now is two PSPs...
this tool is awesome. works realy well already. would be nice if you could implement a cue point save feature and a track spectral curve thing like in the new pioneer cdjs. thank you man, finally i can drop my sinthetix gateway cd ;)
Waveforms and saved cue points are on my list for the next version.
Very Very cool stuff Dan.
I used Denon CD decks for years so this was instant fun for me, even without the guide.
Thanks for coding it,
Simple, clean, and works rock solid.
Captain Dan!

I really like this. It really works well for a B1. I am glad to hear that waveforms and saved cues are next on the list.

Thanks again!

Yeah this is some solid stuff, with the addition of waveforms it will really kick some ass! Now I only need a downdater for my brother's 2.80 FW PSP so I have two players ;-)

Thanks a lot for your effort Dan!
keep up the good work dan. killer homebrew tool!
Hi !
this is really a great tool ! would also be good to have a loop function with loop entry point + loop exit point...
rather than having to use 2 PSPs to DJ, may be you could develop a mixing homebrew - virtual DJ style - with 2 ruckus players... well I am probably asking for too much here anyway thanks again for the player
cheers
BenG
er... tempo counter would be great too for those tracks that don't have the info in the ID3 tag + a "save tempo to ID3" function (really asking for too much here ;o) !
thanks
Awesome looking player. Works like a charm. Certainly reminds me of a cd dj deck. But if someone like myself is just using it as a cd player...anyway to make it play continuous songs in my mp3 folder? As much as I'd like to mix them, I think I will only be using one psp. Oh and that was cool that you used Corrupt Souls in the demo. Big Up DnB Junglist.
dnb junglist needs a reeeewind button ;)
Excellent software, this really deserves more attention.

Some features that would great in the future:
- Using the analogue stick to 'search' or 'nudge' through tracks, almost like the jog wheels of cdjs
- Loop in/out
- Pressing left shoulder stick twice to revert to start of track
- Reverse play
- Eq's

Keep up the good work
i heard a 2.80 is gonna be released in november and i know its a rumor but there was a downdater rumor for 2.71 and now they have it so wait until november when its out so dont brick ur psp
Dan, good work on Ruckus!!! I am very impressed, I didn't think it was possible to decode an mp3 and adjust the pitch on a PSP.

The graphics and fonts look great too.

Very cool.
any updates on ruckus?
Dan, I am starting to work on a DJ type app with a waveform view similar to serato scratch live or final scratch. I am still working on the interface and my audio engine only processes wave files. If you are interested in working together hit me up at rconlives@yahoo.com.
bpm doesn't appear on the screen.
i used many taggers and auto bpm progs but still no resaults.
can anybody tell me what prog he used to write bpm tags to the right format so ruckus dispays it?
Ruckus wont work on my psp Slim and Lite firmware V4,01!

It says something about corrupted data.

Yes, i renamed the folders and it won't work!
I have 3.80 m33-5 ,how can i play ruckus?
man good work but you should make it a complete dj system so you only need to use 1 psp to play 2 songs. good work though
