Flight Tracker
10 May 2006, 2323ZThis coming Friday, I'm flying to Saginaw, Michigan. I've rigged up a real-time flight tracking system using a GPS receiver, my PowerBook, Google Maps, and liberal quantities of tape and string.
I've only done limited testing of it (and only in my car, not an airplane) so this is most decidedly "beta." But it seems to work pretty well, so if you have a spare moment this coming Friday, check it out. I'll post a departure time in the comments here as plans firm up.
(This is all weather-permitting of course, which at the moment is still up in the air. Har har har.)
Update: So much for "up in the air." Seriously, could this weather be any worse? Maybe it's time to grind the rust off my instrument rating. And get an IFR-capable airplane.

I hope the flight tracker will show all the loops and zigzagging I know you do on a regular flight. I realize straight and level flying is the goal of.... yeah. Will it show when you fly through barns? Fancy, but can you program teh internets???
